Last year I pulled the disconnect on my outside Air Conditioner unit and was surprised to find thick walled 1/2" copper pipe instead of the tube fuses that were supposed to be there.  It is a wonder the house hadn’t burned down.

I remember a Darwin award years ago about a guy who put an unused 22 bullet in a automotive fuse block and the heat triggered the primer, shot him in the leg, and he crashed his vehicle.

Dummy fuses are actually a legit product. But don't think your AC unit would be one of the correct uses.

A family friend was in the army and dropped a wrench and it hit both contacts on the battery. instant fireworks. welded itself to the battery.

No it is not , this was also thick walled copper plumbing pipe that had been cut down to size.

One reason I don’t like having my battery in my trunk. Especially before I replaced the trunk floor with a better one that locked in place, it felt like something metal could very easily slide in there and short it.
